Macon, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Tylor Ongwae netted 27 points on 9-of-20 shooting to lead his ULM Warhawks past the Mercer Bears, 71-69, in the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational at Hawkins Arena.

Majok Deng tallied a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds to help ULM (23-12), which advances to the semifinal round of the CBI, and will clash with either the Colorado Buffaloes or the Seattle Redhawks on Wednesday. Nick Coppola contributed 11 points in the win, and Jamaal Samuel secured 10 rebounds.

Ike Nwamu scored a team-best 20 points to lead Mercer (19-16), while Jibri Bryan narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds. Jestin Lewis chipped in 12 points in the defeat.

Mercer converted 48.4 percent of its first-half field goal attempts, and made 7-of-13 from 3-point range to take a commanding 42-27 lead into the intermission. The Bears held ULM to just 34.4 percent shooting in the frame, with a 3-of-12 mark from distance.

The tide completely turned in the second half, as the Warhawks connected on 45.5 percent of their tries, and held the Bears to just 24 percent shooting from the field with a 3-of-16 line from beyond the arc. The Warhawks were able to gain a lead and hang on down the stretch to advance.

ULM held a convincing advantage in points scored in the paint, 34-14, and was able to outrebound the Bears in the win as well by a 41-34 margin.
