Recap: Marshall vs. TX-San Antonio
Huntington, WV (SportsNetwork.com) - Jeromie Hill scored a career-high 36 points and pulled down eight rebounds as the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners cruised past the Marshall Thundering Herd, 82-68, in Conference USA action at the Henderson Center.
Kaj-Bjorn Sherman added 14 points with six boards for UTSA (9-8, 3-3 C-USA), which has won two of its last three games. Ryan Bowie tallied a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Keon Lewis chipped in with 10 points in the win.
Ryan Taylor notched a double-double to lead Marshall (4-15, 0-6) with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Justin Edmonds and Austin Loop each contributed 12 points for the Herd, who have lost nine straight decisions.
UTSA jumped way ahead of Marshall in the first half after connecting on 51.9 percent of its shots from the floor. The Roadrunners held a 39-23 lead at the intermission after the Thundering Herd made just 25 percent of their attempts, including a lowly 3-of-15 from 3-point range.
Marshall jumped up to 51.6 percent shooting in the second frame, while the Roadrunners made 43.5 percent of their tries. But UTSA buried 21-of-28 from the free-throw line to remain comfortably ahead in the easy victory.
The Roadrunners held a 28-13 scoring advantage from the charity stripe in the win, and also dominated Marshall in rebounding, 42-29. The Herd did outscore UTSA in points off turnovers, 24-9.
