Marquette Golden Eagles VS. Tennessee Volunteers

Recap: Marquette vs. Tennessee

Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Duane Wilson scored a game-high 30 points as the Marquette Golden Eagles defeated the Tennessee Volunteers, 67-59, during the championship round of the Orlando Classic.

Wilson converted 5-of-9 shots behind the 3-point line and was 7-of-8 at the charity stripe for the Golden Eagles (4-3) as they won for the third time in four outings. Derrick Wilson also scored in double figures as he tallied 11 points off the bench.

The Vols (2-3) were paced by Armani Moore who recorded a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in 29 minutes of action. Unfortunately, no one else on the team put up double figures in the scoring department.

Both squads shot better than 52 percent from the floor in the first half, yet even with a mere 1-of-5 effort on the perimeter through the first 20 minutes, Marquette still moved out to a 35-30 advantage at the break.

In the second half the Golden Eagles continued to have the hot hand at 52.6 percent, but Tennessee dropped down to a mere 37.8 percent from the field, not to mention an abysmal 1-of-15 beyond the arc, en route to the eight-point decision.

In addition to shooting only 3-of-20 on the outside, the Volunteers were outscored 15-4 at the charity stripe.
