Uncasville, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Shane Richards scored 24 points and dished out five assists as the Manhattan Jaspers defeated the Binghamton Bearcats, 78-63, in the semifinals of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Ashton Pankey contributed 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field for the Jaspers (1-2). Rich Williams added 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc in the win.

Manhattan will face off against Northeastern in the consolation round on Sunday after the Huskies defeated Navy, 68-44. Binghamton will clash with the Midshipmen in the next round.

As for the Bearcats, (1-3), Willie Rodriguez scored 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Marlon Beck II and Justin McFadden chipped in with 10 points apiece.

The Jaspers shot 50 percent from the floor and took a 43-27 lead into halftime. The Bearcats shot just 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from the field and 1- of-5 behind the 3-point line through the first 20 minutes of action.

Binghamton shot 56.5 percent from the field and 60 percent beyond the arc in the second half. Manhattan turned nine turnovers into 14 points to seal the win.

The Jaspers, who forced a total of 20 turnovers in the contest, got their first win of the season despite shooting 7-of-29 from beyond the arc.
