Recap: Longwood vs. UNC Greensboro
Ypsilanti, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Darrion Allen hit the go-ahead three- pointer with 28 seconds left in overtime, and Longwood pulled out an 80-79 decision against UNC-Greensboro on Friday.
After the trey, UNCG's R.J. White missed a pair of free throws, and Leron Fisher made one of his two tries from the charity stripe to put the hosts up by two.
Nicholas Paulos then had the ball stripped by Fisher as time expired.
Allen finished with a game-high 22 points for the Lancers (2-1). Lotanno Nwogbo totaled 18 with 12 rebounds and Ryan Badowski finished with 15 points.
White and Tevon Saddler ended up totaling 19 points each, with White contributing 10 boards for the Spartans (1-2).
UNCG led by as many as 10 in the first half, going up 23-13 on a triple from Clay Bird with less than 5 1/2 minutes remaining, but Longwood rallied to draw even on a Fisher layup with a minute and a half left before the break.
Longwood was up 67-63 with 19 seconds to play in regulation thanks to a Badowski shot from long distance, yet Saddler's free throw and a trey by Saddler with two seconds to play sent the game into an extra session.
Earlier in OT, White's layup had given the visitors a 78-74 advantage.
