Long Beach, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Branford Jones scored 14 points off the bench and David Samuels had a double-double as the Long Beach State 49ers collected a 69-60 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats in non-conference action at Walter Pyramid.

Samuels posted 10 points and as many rebounds for LBSU (2-2), while Mike Caffey tacked on 13 points.

Thomas Gipson finished with 13 points for Kansas State (2-1). Nino Williams tallied 12 points off the bench.

Thanks to a 54.5 percent shooting effort, LBSU took a 33-26 lead into halftime. Kansas State only made 29 percent of its shots in the opening period.

The Wildcats clamped down and kept the 49ers to 33.3 percent shooting after the break. However, Kansas State only made 36.7 percent of its own shots in the final 20 minutes and could not make up the difference.

LBSU enjoyed a 24-17 scoring edge from the free-throw line. Both teams had 40 rebounds.
