Kent, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Derek Jackson scored 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting to lead his Kent State Golden Flashes to a 78-60 rout of the Illinois-Chicago Flames in a non-conference clash as part of the Men Against Breast Cancer Classic at the M.A.C. Center.

Devareaux Manley came off the bench to score 15 points for Kent State (4-0), Kris Brewer chipped in with 14 points and Jimmy Hall netted 10 in the win. Khaliq Spicer grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds for the Golden Flashes.

Jake Wiegand scored a game-high 26 points with nine rebounds for UIC (1-3), while Jay Harris contributed 14 points in the loss.

Kent State connected on 51.7 percent of its shot tries in the first half, and took a 47-29 lead into the midway break. UIC hit just 37.9 percent of its field goal attempts in the period.

The Golden Flashes let up offensively in the second frame with 36.7 percent shooting, but the Flames also dropped to 31.8 percent en route to the Kent State victory.

Kent State held a 29-10 advantage in bench scoring, and a 40-30 edge on the glass.
