Kansas St. Wildcats VS. Texas A&M Aggies

Texas A&M (7-2) vs. Kansas State (6-4)

GAME NOTES: Former conference foes square off at the Sprint Center on Saturday, as the Texas A&M Aggies battle the Kansas State Wildcats in the Wildcat Classic.

These programs were both in the Big 12 before the Aggies bolted for the SEC following the 2011-12 season, and they have not met on the hardwood since. Kansas State leads the all-time series, 17-7.

Texas A&M recovered nicely from a 14-point loss to Baylor, which was just its second setback of the season, with a thorough 81-63 conquest of Youngstown State last Saturday.

Jalen Jones scored a game-high 27 points on 11-of-13 field goal efficiency, including a perfect 4-of-4 effort behind the 3-point line, and he also pulled down eight rebounds. Danuel House added 21 points, six assists and five boards, while Alex Robinson filled his stat line with a game-high 10 assists to go along with seven points and six boards.

After leading by 10 at halftime, the Aggies lit up the scoreboard with an amazing 77.3 percent accuracy over the final 20 minutes. Texas A&M finished the meeting shooting better from 3-point range (11-of-20, .550) than at the free-throw line (8-of-15, .533).

On the season, Texas A&M is outscoring its opponents by over 10 points per game, is forcing more than three turnovers per contest and is shooting a robust 48.8 percent from the floor. Jones certainly helps out the latter number by hitting half of his shots en route to a team-high 13.4 ppg. House is right behind at 12.7 ppg, while Alex Caruso boasts 9.0 ppg and 5.8 apg.

The Wildcats have won two in a row after defeating Savannah State, 73-53, last Sunday -- the club's fifth straight triumph on its home floor. Nino Williams poured in 20 points and Marcus Foster chipped in with 13 and seven assists.

Much like the Aggies, Kansas State piled it on in the second half, hitting 70 percent from the field after the break and 5-of-11 overall from 3-point range. Long-distance shooting has been the Wildcats' speciality this season, as they are No. 1 in the Big 12 in 3-point field goal percentage (.405).

Foster does most of the work on the outside, making nearly half (33) of the club's 64 trifectas en route to a team-high 15.3 ppg. Williams leads all players with a pedestrian 5.1 rpg average while putting up 12.8 ppg, and Thomas Gipson rounds out the high scorers with 11.3 ppg.

K-State is billed as the home team for this contest, but the school is just 10-9 all-time at Sprint Center, making for less of a home court advantage against a tough opponent. On what will essentially be a neutral floor, the Aggies may have the slight edge given their offensive efficiency and balanced scoring.

Predicted Outcome

Texas A&M 70, Kansas State 64
