Recap: Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State

Manhattan, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Foster had 17 points and eight rebounds as the Kansas State Wildcats took down the sixth-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys, 74-71, on Saturday.

Nino Williams added 15 points for the Wildcats (11-3, 1-0 Big 12), who have won nine in a row. Thomas Gipson tallied 10 points and 11 boards.

Le'Bryan Nash ended with 20 points for the Cowboys (12-2, 0-1), who had a five-game winning streak snapped. Markel Brown and Marcus Smart donated 16 and 15 points, respectively, with Brown also pulling down nine boards.

Trailing 60-57 with 5:45 to play, Kansas State went on an 8-0 run. Shane Southwell made two free throws to give the Wildcats the lead for good and Foster's layup with 3:47 remaining gave the home team a 65-60 edge.

Oklahoma State responded with a 6-2 spurt to get within one. Nash's jumper and layup around Jevon Thomas' jumper cut the gap to 67-66.

Gipson followed with a layup to give Kansas State a three-point margin. Southwell missed a 3-point try for the Wildcats and Nash was fouled on the rebound. Nash made two free throws with 35.2 seconds left to get the visitors within 69-68.

Gipson came right back with two free throws of his own to make it a three- point contest again. After Nash missed a shot from beyond the arc, Williams went 1-of-2 from the charity stripe with 13.5 ticks to go.

Phil Forte made a 3-pointer to keep Oklahoma State alive. Williams, however, made two free throws to make it a 74-71 contest. Smart raced up court and threw up a running 3-point try as the final buzzer sounded, but it clanked harmlessly off the rim and fell to the court.

Oklahoma State held a 38-37 lead following a back-and-forth first half.

The second period was much like the first, with neither team leading by more than five.
