Hempstead, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Ethan O'Day netted 17 points as the Vermont Catamounts knocked off the Hofstra Pride, 85-81, in the first round of the CBI Tournament at the Mack Sports Complex.

Trae Bell-Haynes and Zach McRoberts each scored 13 points for Vermont (18-13) while the former also dished out five assists in the win. Dre Wills tallied 11 points and seven rebounds and Drew Urquhart added 10 points for the Catamounts. Vermont will now take on Radford in the quarterfinal round on Monday.

Juan'ya Green finished with 16 points and five assists for Hofstra (20-13). Dion Nesmith added to the scoring effort with 15 points, while Ameen Tanksley scored 14 points and dished out seven assists in the loss. Rokas Gustys contributed with 13 points off the bench.

Vermont entered halftime holding a slim 33-30 lead. The Catamounts converted 43.3 percent of their first-half field-goal attempts, and limited the Pride to a 37.9 shooting percentage, including just 26.3 percent from beyond the arc.

The Catamounts maintained their lead in the final period by netting a sensational 16-of-22 from the field, while Hofstra kept pace with 16-of-37 converted field-goal attempts in the frame. But the Pride made just 3-of-14 from 3-point distance in the period.

Vermont, which never trailed in the meeting, outscored Hofstra 23-19 at the free-throw line.
