Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Georges-Hunt was one of four players in double figures with 15 first-half points, as Georgia Tech topped Appalachian State, 70-57, on Monday.

Demarco Cox picked up 13 points and Tadric Jackson 12 for the Yellow Jackets (7-2), who rebounded from a loss to USC Upstate in their last game on Dec. 6.

Chris Burgess totaled 15 points and Dustin Clarke contributed 13 for the Mountaineers (3-4), who have dropped two in a row after winning three straight.

Georgia Tech assumed control of the contest with a 16-6 run in the latter stages of the first half, snapping a tie and taking a 10-point edge. Georges- Hunt scored eight in that burst, including the final basket with 2:55 left before halftime for a 33-23 contest.

The hosts led 36-25 at the break.

Tommy Spagnolo's basket with less than 90 seconds played in the second half pulled ASU within 36-29, but the Yellow Jackets stole the momentum back and eventually rolled to a 60-40 lead with 10:39 to play on Jackson's triple.

Appalachian State's deficit remained in double digits for the remainder.
