New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Joey King scored 15 points in leading the Minnesota Golden Gophers to a 66-62 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs in the third place game of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden.

Minnesota (4-2) also had a solid contribution from DeAndre Mathieu, who finished with 12 points and five assists.

The Bulldogs' (3-3) Marcus Thornton finished with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Yante Maten and J.J. Frazier tallied 12 points apiece.

The Golden Gophers held a comfortable 37-25 lead over Georgia heading into halftime. Minnesota only shot 45.2 percent from the floor overall, compared to a 62.5 percent effort from Georgia, but it had a 21-0 scoring edge from beyond the arc.

Georgia couldn't muster much offense in the second half, as it went 12-of-32 from the field, including a 3-of-11 showing from beyond the arc. Minnesota didn't put its best effort forward in terms of shooting (.375), but it was enough to hold off the Bulldogs.

The Golden Gophers scored 23 points off of turnovers.
