GEORGIA BULLDOGS

Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia Bulldogs VS. Florida Gators

Florida (10-6) at Georgia (10-5)

GAME NOTES: Hoping to extend a three-game win streak, the Florida Gators will hit the road for an SEC clash with the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday at Stegeman Coliseum.

Florida has been victorious in all three of its conference matchups so far, with a lopsided victory over Auburn (75-55) on Thursday serving as the team's latest dominant effort. However, the Gators are just 1-2 away from home this season.

Georgia got back in the win column on Wednesday with a narrow 70-67 victory over Vanderbilt in Nashville. The win put a stop to a short two-game skid, which dropped the Bulldogs back to 10-5 on the season. They own a 7-1 record at home, however.

Florida leads the all-time border battle series with Georgia, 109-99, which includes a sweep of last season's games. But in Athens, the Gators trail the Bulldogs in the series, 50-37, although Florida is 10-7 against Georgia on the road under Billy Donovan.

Florida put the heat on Auburn right from the opening tip, as the Gators cruised to a 37-20 halftime advantage over the Tigers on Thursday. Auburn didn't lead for a single second in the eventual 20-point loss after shooting just 32.7 percent from the field. Dorian Finney-Smith scored 14 points to lead the charge in the win, while both Kasey Hill and Eli Carter added 12 points. Wilson dished out a team-high seven assists as well. Michael Frazier rounded out a group of double-digit scorers in the effort with 11 points, also adding in nine rebounds.

The Gators have been up and down this season, but both Finney-Smith and Frazier have stayed fairly consistent in their scoring efforts. Finney-Smith leads the team with a 14.1 ppg mark on 50.7 percent shooting from the floor. Frazier chips in with 13.6 ppg this season, and is the only other Gators player to average a double-digit scoring output. Still, Florida has managed a 68.1 ppg mark through 16 games this season, and is holding opponents to a meager 56.8 ppg on just 38.6 percent shooting. Hill has dished out a team-high 72 assists so far, and checks in ranked fourth in the SEC with a 4.5 apg average. Jon Horford leads the Gators in rebounding at 5.5 boards per outing.

Georgia shot a respectable 48.9 percent from the floor on Wednesday against Vanderbilt, and the Bulldogs connected on 10-of-17 from 3-point range to help down the Commodores. Clutch free-throw shooting by J.J. Frazier down the stretch kept the Bulldogs ahead after Vanderbilt made a furious comeback attempt in the second half. Kenny Gaines finished with a team-leading 17 points for Georgia, while Marcus Thornton added 16 points in the win. Frazier ended his night with 11 points and six rebounds. The Bulldogs hit only 16- of-24 from the free-throw line, but some it was enough to hold off the Commodores.

Through 15 games, it's Thornton that checks in with a team-leading scoring average of 13.8 ppg, shooting 50.3 percent from the field. He also adds in a team-high 7.6 rpg for a Bulldogs squad pulling down 39.3 boards per outing. Gaines adds in 12.1 ppg for Georgia, while Charles Mann chips in 11.8 ppg and Nemanja Djurisic contributes 11.3 ppg to round out the group of double-digit scorers. As a unit, the Bulldogs are netting 72.7 ppg this season, and are holding opponents to 66.0 ppg on 38.7 percent shooting.

Florida is riding a hot streak at the moment, which started with a road contest against South Carolina. So winning on the road isn't a foreign concept for the Gators, who will have their work cut out for them against a strong Georgia offensive effort.
