Georgetown Hoyas VS. Creighton Bluejays

Recap: Georgetown vs. Creighton

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Joshua Smith scored 16 points to lead five Georgetown players in double figures as the 25th-ranked Hoyas posted a 76-61 victory over the Creighton Bluejays on Saturday.

L.J. Peak had 14 points and Tre Campbell added 13 for Georgetown (9-4, 1-1 Big East), which shot 58.7 percent in rebounding from a loss to Xavier in Wednesday's conference opener.

"Today, coach called on my number and I was ready to go out there and perform," said Campbell, who had played sparingly this season. "He had confidence in me and I always have confidence in myself."

Devin Brooks and Zach Hanson scored 11 points apiece for the Bluejays (9-6, 0-2), who have lost three straight games.

"They are an unselfish team," said Creighton coach Greg McDermott. "I think (Devauntes) Smith-Rivera is their best player and he is unselfish. Any time you have that, your team feeds off of that."

Georgetown led 33-31 at halftime and opened the second half with 3-pointers by Peak and Campbell to create a little separation.

Campbell buried another trey to put the Hoyas up 54-44, then Paul White hit from long distance to make it 61-46 with 7:53 remaining.

Georgetown, which shot 75 percent (15-of-20) in the second half, led by as many as 18 down the stretch.
