GAME NOTES: The George Washington Colonials try to remain unbeaten at home this season when they battle the George Mason Patriots in Atlantic 10 Conference action from the Charles E. Smith Center.

The Colonials are 7-0 at home and those victories have come by an impressive average of 19.9 points. It's been much closer over the last two at home by just an average of three points. GW is coming off a 73-70 double-overtime home win over Richmond on Thursday. It was the seventh victory in the last eight games for the Colonials.

As for the Patriots, they have lost three in a row, including a 75-55 setback at St. Bonaventure on Wednesday.

GW holds a 12-2 lead in the all-time series. That includes a 10-0 mark at the Smith Center.

Kevin Larsen scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead GW to its latest win. Kethan Savage added 13 points and eight rebounds. Joe McDonald contributed 13 points, while Patricio Garino chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds. The Colonials outscored Richmond in second-chance points, 19-0, as they held the visitors to a mere two offensive rebounds, crushing the Spiders on the glass overall, 43-24. GW made a season-best 82.8 percent from the foul line against the Spiders.

Savage (12.2 ppg) leads the A-10 with 101 free throws and is 11th by making 77.2 percent. Garino (13.1 ppg) is hitting 53.3 percent of his shots from the field. Larsen 911.7 ppg, 7.5 rpg) is a 51 percent shooter from the floor. McDonald contributes 9.2 ppg and 6.1 rpg, and leads the team with 55 assists. The Colonials are averaging 69.1 ppg and are allowing just 59.8 ppg, which is tied for third-best in the conference.

Shevon Thompson led the Patriots in scoring with 18 points in the loss to the Bonnies. Jalen Jenkins and Patrick Holloway each netted nine points apiece while Corey Edwards grabbed nine boards in the defeat. The Bonnies outrebounded George Mason, 41-28.

Thompson is averaging 13.2 ppg and a conference-leading 11.2 rpg. Holloway (12.1 ppg) and Marquise Moore (9.2 ppg), along with Jenkins (8.0 ppg) are part of a team that is averaging 65.8 ppg, but is shooting just 42.6 percent from the field. That ranks 10th in the Atlantic 10. Thompson has been a liability at the foul line by going just 43-of-74 (.581).

This is known as the Revolutionary Rivalry, an annual competition between the schools separated by less than 20 miles. The Colonials have a well-balanced offensive attack and judging from their past performances against the Patriots, expect another victory for GW, which has won 22 of its last 23 contests at the Smith Center.
