Fairfax, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Cady Lalanne registered a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds as the Massachusetts Minutemen held off the George Mason Patriots for a 66-62 victory in an Atlantic 10 Conference matchup at the Patriot Center.

Trey Davis netted a game-high 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the floor for UMass (9-7, 2-1 A-10), while Jabarie Hinds contributed 11 points.

The Patriots (6-9, 1-2) came up short despite a tremendous showing by Shevon Thompson, who finished with 12 points and 16 boards. Patrick Holloway and Corey Edwards provided 11 points apiece.

GMU took a 35-33 lead into the intermission after it shot 53.4 percent from the floor in the opening stanza. The Minutemen were limited to 48.1 percent efficiency from the field and missed all three of their tries at the charity stripe in the first half.

The second period featured solid defensive by both sides. The Patriots held the visitors to 33.3 percent shooting from the field, including a 1-of-6 clip from 3-point range after the break. GMU managed to sink only 6-of-27 shots from the floor and missed seven of its 21 attempts at the free-throw line over the final 20 minutes of action. Derrick Gordon missed all six of his field goal tries before draining a pair of shots at the charity stripe in the closing seconds to prevent a last second comeback by the Patriots.

UMass finished with a 45-39 edge in total rebounds.
