Fairfax, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Shonn Miller tallied 21 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks to lead the Cornell Big Red past the George Mason Patriots, 68-60, in each team's season opener at the Patriot Center.

Robert Hatter also scored 21 points for Cornell (1-0), which is already halfway to matching its win total from all of last season. Devin Cherry stuffed the stat sheet with nine points, 10 rebounds and seven assists but also turned the ball over eight times.

For George Mason (0-1), Patrick Holloway led all scorers with 22 points on 7- of-18 from the field. Jalen Jenkins netted 10 points and Shevon Thompson hauled in 10 rebounds.

Cornell outshot George Mason from the field in the opening half, 45.5 percent to 33.3 percent, as it carried a 34-31 lead into intermission.

The Big Red led by as many as 15 in the second half, with the Patriots only making it close in the final minute.

Cornell held a 46-38 rebounding advantage, which helped make up for a game- high 16 turnovers.
