St. Thomas, VI (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarvis Davis made two free throws with 6.6 seconds remaining to lift Gardner-Webb to a 72-70 win over Clemson in the opening game of the Paradise Jam.

The Bulldogs' Tyler Strange nailed a 3-pointer from the top of the key, tying the game at 70. Clemson was then issued a technical foul for calling a timeout with none available.

After Davis sank both shots from the line, Jordan Roper missed a layup and Landry Nnoko couldn't convert a tip-in as the buzzer sounded.

Strange finished with 18 points and 10 assists for Gardner-Webb (2-1), which will play either Seton Hall or Nevada in the semifinals. Tyrell Nelson contributed 12 points and six rebounds, while Davis, Jerome Hill and Harold McBride each chipped in 10 points.

Damarcus Harrison paced the Tigers (1-2) with 19 points, and Rod Hall added 16 in defeat.
