Greenville, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 21 points from Corey Hawkins, the UC Davis Aggies edged the Furman Paladins, 58-55, in a non-conference matchup at Timmons Arena.

Josh Fox added 11 points for the Aggies (3-0), and J.T. Adenrele scored seven and pulled down eight rebounds,

Stephen Croone led the Paladins (1-2) with 15 points, while John Davis scored 14 and Daniel Fowler chipped in with 11 points.

The Aggies scored the final four point of the opening period and led, 30-27, at the break, as they shot a scorching 59.1 percent from the floor with 3-of-8 from 3-point range. The Paladins hit on a respectable 47.1 percent of their field goal tries in the half, but struggled from long range, making just one of their eight attempts from beyond the arc.

After intermission, the Aggies cooled off a bit but still managed to hit on 45.8 percent from the floor, including a healthy 4-of-10 from 3-point range. The Paladins improved their 3-point shooting to 5-of-16, but made just 38.5 percent of their field goal tries overall in the second. After trailing by as many as 13 points in the second half, the Paladins attempted a comeback and cut their deficit to just two with under a minute to play. They had a chance to force overtime, but Croone's 3-point try in the final seconds was off the mark, sealing the Aggies victory.

The Paladins stayed close by outscoring the Aggies at the free-throw line, 13-3. The Aggies had the edge on points in the paint, 28-22.
