Greenville, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Stitt scored a game-high 19 points as the College of Charleston Cougars coasted to a 75-40 decision over the Furman Paladins in the 2014-15 season opener for both sides at Timmons Arena.

Adjehi Baru added 16 points and eight boards for the Cougars (1-0), who also received 12 points off the bench from Donovan Gilmore. Joe Chealey led all players with seven assists.

Daniel Fowler and Kendrec Ferrera netted eight points apiece for Furman (0-1).

Charleston took a 32-21 lead into the intermission after it connected on 45.2 percent of its field goal attempts in the opening stanza. The Paladins were limited to 22.2 percent shooting from the floor and converted only 11-of-22 shots at the free-throw line in the first half.

The Cougars pulled away after the break by sinking 60.7 percent of their field goal tries, including a 7-of-15 clip from 3-point range.

Furman finished the contest with just two assists against 16 turnovers. Charleston assisted 20 of its 31 makes from the floor.
