Recap: Fresno State vs. Nevada
Fresno, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Behind 18 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots from Paul Watson, the Fresno State Bulldogs downed the Nevada Wolf Pack, 66-62, in a Mountain West Conference showdown at the Save Mart Center.
For the Bulldogs (10-10, 5-2 MWC), Marvelle Harris added 15 points, Cezar Guerrero scored 12 and Julien Lewis chipped in with 10 points.
Eric Cooper Jr. scored 20 points to pace the Wolf Pack (6-12, 2-4), while Tyron Criswell finished with 19 points, A.J. West posted a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds and Marqueze Coleman tallied 10 points in a reserve role.
The Wolf Pack shot 37.5 percent from the field, including 2-of-10 from 3-point range in the first half, compared to the Bulldogs who hit on just 33.3 percent of their field goal tries in the half. Fresno State led by five late in the half, but Nevada finished the period on a 7-2 run to even the score at 29-29 heading into the break.
Trailing 57-56 with under three minutes to play, the Bulldogs scored seven straight points to take the lead and held on the rest of the way for their fifth win in the last six decisions.
Both teams got a lot of production at the charity stripe, as the Bulldogs finished 22-of-33 at the free-throw line and the Wolf Pack converted 21-of-29. Nevada had the decided edge on the boards, 47-33.
