Florida Gators VS. LSU Tigers

LSU (13-4) at Florida (10-7)

GAME NOTES: Both the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators will attempt to rebound from losses as they meet in a head-to-head clash at the O'Connell Center on Tuesday in SEC action.

LSU's two-game win streak ended on Saturday when the Tigers dropped a three- point decision, 67-64 to Texas A&M. Now LSU hits the road where the team is 3-1 this season. The Tigers are 2-2 in conference play as they gear up for Tuesday's matchup.

Florida had won three games in a row until Saturday, when the team made a trip to Athens to take on Georgia. The Gators were downed, 73-61, which ended the SEC's longest conference win streak. Florida will host LSU owning a 3-1 mark in SEC play, and a 7-2 record at home.

LSU and Florida have met 103 times on the basketball court, with the Tigers owning a 60-43 all-time advantage. But the Gators have been dominant in the last six meetings, winning all of them, including last season's only clash, 79-61.

LSU had a rough day shooting the ball against Texas A&M. The Tigers connected on 39.1 percent of their tries from the floor, and made just 7-of-23 from 3- point range in defeat. Jordan Mickey netted 17 points to pace the Tigers, adding eight rebounds and seven blocked shots to his stat line. Jalyn Patterson came off the bench to score 13 points, and Jarell Martin chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds. The second half is where the Tigers fell apart, as they shot just 29.4 percent from the floor with a 1-of-13 mark from beyond the arc.

Martin and Mickey have been dominant forces underneath the basket for LSU this season. Martin leads the team in scoring at 16.6 ppg (third in the SEC), while Mickey adds in 15.6 ppg of his own. Mickey leads the Tigers on the glass, averaging 10.4 rpg (second in the SEC), but Martin isn't very far behind, grabbing 8.9 boards per outing (third in the conference). Keith Hornsby (12.4 ppg) and Tim Quarterman (11.9 ppg) round out a group of double-digit scorers for the Tigers, who are netting 75.1 ppg as a unit (third in the SEC). The team is allowing opponents to score 67.6 ppg on just 39.7 percent shooting.

Florida played well on the offensive end of the floor Saturday in the team's loss, but not so much on the defensive end. The Gators connected on 50 percent of their tries from the floor, but allowed Georgia to hit 56.1 percent of its attempts in the contest. The Bulldogs also added a 19-of-29 mark from the free-throw line. Devin Robinson and Dorian Finney-Smith each scored 11 points to pace the Gators, while Michael Frazier came off the bench to net 10 points in the loss.

The Gators seemingly have some catching up to do offensively, as the team averages 67.6 ppg this season, which falls well behind LSU's scoring total. However, Florida has prided itself on a strong scoring defense that allows only 57.7 ppg to opponents on 39.5 percent shooting. Finney-Smith leads the Gators in scoring at 13.9 ppg, and adds in a team-best 5.4 rpg mark as well. Frazier is right on Finney-Smith's heels in the scoring category, netting 13.4 ppg. Kasey Hill is the next closest to double digits at 8.0 ppg, but he's taken over the role of point guard and leads the squad with 75 assists on the season. Jon Horford and Finney-Smith will be tasked with trying to contain Mickey and Martin underneath the basket.

Even though LSU is playing on the road against a Florida team that is 7-2 at the O'Connell Center, the Tigers will use their dominant duo of big men against a Florida team that will struggle to match up in the frontcourt.

Predicted Outcome

LSU 68, Florida 64
