Elon, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Tony Sabato paced four teammates in double figures with 14 points, as the Elon Phoenix downed the Florida Atlantic Owls, 64-58, in the season opener at Alumni Gym.

Luke Eddy netted 13 points for Elon (1-0). Tanner Samson and Elijah Bryant both scored 10 points, with Samson adding eight rebounds as well.

For FAU (0-1), Marquan Botley and Jackson Trapp each tallied 15 points. Justin Raffington just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.

FAU controlled the first half, shooting 46.4 percent from the field (including 4-of-8 from 3-point range) to take a 37-32 lead at the break.

Elon used a 6-0 run early in the second half to take a brief advantage, and after the teams exchanged the lead a handful of times, Eddy delivered what proved to be the game-winning 3-pointer with 8:35 to play.

The Phoenix won the turnover battle, 16-11.
