Recap: Eastern Wash vs. Idaho
Missoula, MT (SportsNetwork.com) - Tyler Harvey exploded for 42 points with an 8-of-12 mark from 3-point range to lead his second-seeded Eastern Washington Eagles over the seventh-seeded Idaho Vandals, 91-83, in the quarterfinal round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament at Dahlberg Arena.
Ognjen Miljkovic added 13 points, and Venky Jois tallied a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds for Eastern Washington (24-8), which moves on to the semifinal round of the tournament Friday to take on Sacramento State.
Connor Hill netted 23 points to pace Idaho (13-17), which ended the season with three straight losses. Perrion Callandret and Bira Seck each scored 13 points, and Arkadiy Mkrtychyan chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
Idaho took a 41-38 lead into the intermission after shooting 52.2 percent from the floor in the opening frame, which included a 7-of-10 mark from 3-point distance. Eastern Washington kept things close with a 45.2 shooting percentage in the period.
The Eagles caught fire in the second half, connecting on 63 percent of their field goal attempts with a 9-of-16 mark from distance. The Vandals made 48.5 percent of their tries from the field, but only went 3-of-8 from beyond the arc, which allowed Eastern Washington to catch up and eventually pull ahead.
EWU held a 33-28 advantage in rebounding over Idaho, and outscored the Vandals from 3-point range, 39-30, in the win.
