Greenville, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Terry Whisnant netted 17 points with six assists to pace the East Carolina Pirates past the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 71-50, in a non-conference affair Sunday at Minges Coliseum.

Caleb White chipped in with 14 points, and made 6-of-6 from the free-throw line for East Carolina (7-6), which has won two games in a row. Michel Nzege contributed 12 points and five rebounds in the win.

Diante Baldwin scored 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting to lead UNC Greensboro (4-9), while Nicholas Paulos added nine points with eight rebounds. The Spartans have dropped three straight contests.

East Carolina was on fire in the first half, as the home squad connected on 72.7 percent of its shots from the field to take a commanding 45-26 lead at the midway break. UNCG shot 36.7 percent from the floor in the frame.

Both teams dipped in the second half in terms of shooting. The Pirates made 38.9 percent of their attempts, while the Spartans hit 33.3 percent from the floor. The Pirates were able to coast to victory by maintaining such a huge first-half advantage.

ECU outscored UNC Greensboro, 19-4, from the free-throw line in the win, and held a 19-8 advantage in bench scoring over the Spartans.
