Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Chris Fouch knocked down 6-of-8 3- pointers en route to a game-high 31 points, as the Drexel Dragons outlasted Colonial Athletic Association foe Northeastern in double-overtime, 93-88, at the Daskalakis Center.
Frantz Massenat racked up 27 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and a pair of steals in the win. Tavon Allen finished with 18 points for the Dragons (9-6, 1-1 CAA), who avoided their first four-game slide since the 2008-09 season.
Demetrius Pollard led the way with 19 points for the Huskies (4-12, 1-1), while Scott Eatherton recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Marco Banegas-Flores was next in line with 17 points, followed by Reggie Spencer with 10 points to go along with five rebounds.
Drexel shot 5-of-11 from 3-point range in the opening frame as it took a 33-26 halftime lead into the locker room.
But the Huskies had the hot hand in the second half, as they shot 58.3 percent from the floor and buried 5-of-9 threes. Still, NU needed a last-second 3- pointer from Pollard to force overtime.
Drexel took a 74-70 lead on a layup by Massenat two minutes into the first overtime. But once again it was Pollard to the rescue for NU, as he drove the lane and converted a three-point play to knot the score at 76 and force a second overtime.
The Dragons scored the first six points of the second extra session and later took a 90-85 lead on a 3-pointer by Fouch with 36 seconds remaining. Drexel sealed the victory with free throws down the stretch.
The Dragons were an efficient 8-of-19 (.421) from the perimeter and 25-of-31 (.806) from the foul line in the win.
