Recap: Drake vs. Murray State
Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarvis Williams scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Murray State Racers defeated the Drake Bulldogs, 68-59, in the final round of the Challenge in Music City.
Williams, who added three steals and a pair of assists, converted all six of his chances at the free-throw line for the Racers (3-4) in the triumph. Justin Seymour came off the bench to register 14 points, followed by TJ Sapp and Cameron Payne with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bulldogs (1-6), losers of three straight, were paced by Gary Ricks with his 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor. Reserve Chris Caird responded with 16 points and fellow backup Reed Timmer tacked on 13 points in 19 minutes of work.
Drake led by three points late in the first half, thanks to a 63.6 percent shooting performance from the field through the first 20 minutes, but the squad hit the intermission up by only a point, 36-35.
After converting 14 field goals in the first half, Drake dropped to eight after the break, allowing Murray State to come back and build a sizeable lead, en route to the nine-point victory.
In a game that featured eight ties and 19 lead changes, the Bulldogs didn't do themselves any favors by turning the ball over 21 times, leading to 25 Murray State points.
