Dover, DE (SportsNetwork.com) - Cameron Jones scored 18 points as the Radford Highlanders soundly defeated the Delaware State Hornets, 78-57, in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational Tournament at Memorial Hall.

Javonte Green nearly finished with a double-double as he tallied 17 points, nine rebounds and four steals for Radford (22-11). Rashun Davis contributed 11 points and four assists in the victory. The Highlanders will now challenge Vermont in the quarterfinal round on Monday.

DeAndre Haywood led Delaware State (18-18) with 21 points. Scott Sill finished with eight points and six boards for the Hornets.

The game was tied 35-35 entering halftime. Radford scored on 45.5 percent of its first-half field-goal tries, but that included just 3-of-15 from 3-point distance. Delaware State converted 44.4 percent of its tries from the field in the opening period, including 4-of-10 from beyond the arc.

The Highlanders took control after intermission, as they shot 55.2 percent from the field and went 9-of-14 at the free-throw line. The Hornets were held to only nine field goals total, which included just 2-of-8 from 3- point range.

Radford outscored DSU 42-29 on points in the paint and outrebounded the Hornets, 48-33.
