Recap: Dayton vs. Texas A&M
San Juan, PR (SportsNetwork.com) - Devin Scott's tip bucket with one second left lifted the Dayton Flyers over the Texas A&M Aggies, 55-53, in opening round action of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.
Dyshawn Pierre scored 14 points to lead the Flyers (2-0), who will face Connecticut in the semifinals on Friday.
Alex Caruso had 17 points to lead Texas A&M (1-1), which will face the College of Charleston on Friday.
UConn beat College of Charleston, 65-57, on Thursday.
Down by five points late in the contest, 50-45, the Flyers drew within one point after a Jalen Robinson layup and a pair of Pierre free throws at the 2:38 mark.
Later, down by two, 53-51, Jordan Sibert hit a pair of free throws to tie the game with 56.6 seconds remaining.
Then, after holding A&M on the other end, Sibert drove to the hoop with six seconds left and after his layup rimmed out, Scott tipped home the rebound.
Caruso had his half-court shot at the buzzer go off the back rim.
Dayton was outrebounded by the Aggies 47-26.
Kourtney Roberson had 12 points and 15 rebounds for Texas A&M.
