DAYTON FLYERS

Dayton Flyers

Dayton Flyers VS. Bowling Green Falcons

Bowling Green (5-1) at Dayton (6-1)

GAME NOTES: In-state rivals clash at UD Arena on Tuesday as the Dayton Flyers look to extend a four-game win streak against the Bowling Green Falcons in a non-conference tilt.

Bowling Green is off to a hot start, sporting a 5-1 overall record entering the matchup with fellow Ohio-based program Dayton. The Falcons won their last outing against Alabama A&M, 64-47, which came directly after the team's first loss of the season, a 62-52 defeat at Western Kentucky.

Dayton's only loss in seven contests this season came against UConn, 75-64, during the Puerto Rico Tipp-Off Classic back in November. Since then, the Flyers have won four straight, with a 73-64 victory over Eastern Michigan being the most recent.

These two sides have played each other 23 times in their series history, as Dayton enters with a 15-8 all-time advantage over Bowling Green. But the sides haven't clashed since the 1971 campaign.

Bowling Green didn't have much of an issue taking down Alabama A&M in the team's last outing, as the Falcons claimed a 32-18 lead at the end of the first half which made it near impossible for the Bulldogs to come back. Richaun Holmes led BGSU in scoring in the contest, pouring in 12 points with a team- best seven rebounds. Jehvon Clarke scored 11 off the bench, and Zack Denny chipped in with 10 points. David Joseph dished out eight assists to lead his Falcons, which held Alabama A&M to 35.4 percent shooting in the game.

Holmes has proven to be a force for Bowling Green on both ends of the floor. The big man leads his team in scoring, netting 12.7 ppg, and serving as the only player entering the contest with a double-digit scoring average. His 8.8 rpg mark is also the best on the squad, while his 16 blocked shots is essentially an extension of his shot-blocking prowess he showed last season. Spencer Parker and Clarke are second on the team in scoring, each netting 9.5 ppg for a Falcons squad that is scoring 64.8 ppg this season.

Dayton hit one of the hottest teams in the country in its last contest, going up against the previously unbeaten Eastern Michigan Eagles. But the Flyers made quick work of the Mid-American Conference program, holding the Eagles to 37.3 percent shooting and 64 points in the nine-point Dayton win. Kendall Pollard netted 16 points with nine rebounds, and both Dyshawn Pierre and Jordan Sibert weren't far off the mark with 15 points apiece. Scoochie Smith chipped in with 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the Flyers victory.

Sibert leads a trio of players for Dayton averaging scoring totals in the double digits with 14.9 ppg. Pierre checks in behind Sibert with 12.1 ppg on 51.8 percent shooting from the floor. Pollard's 11.0 ppg mark is third on the Flyers, who average 67.7 ppg as a team. Devon Scott leads Dayton with 7.0 rpg, followed by Pierre's 6.3 rpg mark. The team is holding opponents to 57.1 ppg on a mere 37 percent shooting touch this season.

These two one-loss teams clash head to head, looking to give the other a second defeat on the season. While Bowling Green's record is impressive, the Flyers should be able to prove too much for the Falcons offensively, especially at home.
