Davidson Wildcats VS. St. Bonaventure Bonnies

St. Bonaventure (11-8) at Davidson (14-5)

GAME NOTES: Seeking to end a two-game skid, the St. Bonaventure Bonnies will travel to face the Wildcats of Davidson in an Atlantic 10 Conference bout Wednesday at Belk Arena.

After winning three games in a row, St. Bonaventure has dropped back-to-back contests against Rhode Island (53-48) and La Salle (66-56) - both in conference play. The Bonnies have fallen to 4-4 in the A-10 because of those defeats, and are also 4-4 away from home this season.

Davidson saw a two-game mini win streak come to an end on Saturday, when the Wildcats fell to Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia, 75-70. The Wildcats, who are 14-5 overall this season, are now 5-3 against league competition, and own a perfect 9-0 mark in the comforts of Belk Arena.

This will be the fifth meeting all-time between St. Bonaventure and Davidson, and their first as Atlantic 10 Conference rivals. The series is all knotted up at two games apiece, with the most recent clash occurring way back in 2002 - a 77-72 Wildcats win at home.

St. Bonaventure found itself down by just two points at halftime after owning a lead as great as eight points about a quarter of the way through the first frame. But the Bonnies went cold in the second half from the floor, shooting just 30 percent while La Salle connected on 57.9 percent of its tries in the frame. Dion Wright netted 21 points with seven rebounds to pace the Bonnies in the 10-point loss, while Youssou Ndoye added in 17 points with six boards. Marcus Posley, who is one of the best scorers in the A-10 this season, didn't get the start, and finished with just four points in the loss.

He enters this matchup still leading the team in the individual scoring category with 17.1 ppg, which is good for third in the Atlantic 10 at the moment. Wright contributes 13.1 ppg for the Bonnies, Ndoye chips in 12.1 ppg and Jaylen Adams is netting 10.4 ppg with a team-best 82 assists. Ndoye averages a double-double per outing, checking in at 10.7 rpg - second in the A-10 behind George Mason's Shevon Thompson. Ndoye's 2.8 blocked shots per game ranks second in the league as well. As a unit, St. Bonaventure is scoring 69.0 ppg on 42.1 percent shooting, while allowing opponents to net 65.5 ppg in the same span.

Davidson had a bit of an uncharacteristic shooting performance against Saint Joseph's on Saturday. The Wildcats connected on just 39.1 percent of their tries from the floor, but lost out on a 13-point lead they held at halftime over the Hawks (41-28). The hosts hit on 60 percent of their shots in the second frame to bury the visiting Wildcats, who were led in scoring in the game by Peyton Aldridge's 24-point effort. Brian Sullivan chipped in with 17 points and five assists, and Tyler Kalinoski tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Davidson's offense has shown traces of inconsistency, although the team still ranks first in the A-10 and seventh in the entire nation in scoring at 81.3 ppg. The team's kryptonite has been on the defensive end of the floor, where the Wildcats are allowing 70.0 ppg to opponents - second worst in the league behind Duquesne. Kalinoski leads a group of five double-digit scorers for Davidson at 16.7 ppg, adding in a team-leading 6.1 rpg. Jack Gibbs (out with a torn meniscus) averages 15.8 ppg, Aldridge nets 11.2 ppg, Sullivan chips in 11.2 ppg as well, and Jordan Barham tops off the list at 10.3 ppg.

Davidson will be looking to bounce back from a sub-par offensive performance by its typical standards in this contest. The Wildcats will try to keep their unbeaten home record alive, while the Bonnies will likely try to employ Ndoye underneath the basket to do some damage in the paint.

Predicted Outcome

Davidson 78, St. Bonaventure 70
