DAVIDSON WILDCATS

Davidson Wildcats

Davidson Wildcats VS. Saint Louis Billikens

Saint Louis (8-7) at Davidson (10-3)

GAME NOTES: Davidson will try to bounce back from one of its three losses to nationally-ranked teams when the Wildcats entertain the Saint Louis Billikens in Atlantic 10 Conference play on Saturday evening.

Davidson's three defeats this season have come against No. 6 North Carolina on Nov. 22, No. 3 Virginia on Dec. 30, and 20th-ranked VCU this past Wednesday.

The Billikens, who were edged out by George Washington on Tuesday, have dropped three in a row.

This bout marks the first meeting between the Wildcats and Billikens on the hardwood.

The Wildcats are in the Atlantic 10 after spending 74 seasons in the Southern Conference. Davidson won its A-10 opener against Richmond on Jan. 3, before losing earlier this week. Brian Sullivan scored 19 points, Tyler Kalinoski gave 16 with nine rebounds and six assists, and Jack Gibbs had 11 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Wildcats in Wednesday's 71-65 loss.

The success of the Wildcats this season has been predicated upon their ability to work the perimeter. They are sixth nationally in scoring offense (84.2 ppg), and average 11.2 3-pointers per game, which is second-best in the nation. Gibbs and Kalinoski pace four Wildcats in double figures, averaging 16.9 and 16.8 points per game, respectively. Kalinoski is four points shy of 1,000. Gibbs tops the teams in free-throw percentage (.921), assists (4.8 apg) and steals (1.7 spg). Peyton Aldridge is averaging 10.3 ppg, while junior Jordan Barham chips in 10.2 ppg off the bench.

The Billikens lost at GW on Wednesday, 75-72. Milik Yarbrough scored a game- high 26 points and grabbed six boards to pace Saint Louis. Davell Roby collected 14 points and pulled in five rebounds before fouling out.

Yarbrough (20.3 ppg) is the A-10's leading scorer (22.5 ppg in conference games only). Austin McBroom averages 10.5 ppg. Ash Yacoubou (9.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg) has gone for in double figures in five of his last six games.

This contest will be a matchup of polar opposites. Dating back to last season, Davidson has won 13 straight at home. Last season, the Billikens had the second-best road record in the country, going 11-1, but they've already lost twice on the road this season.

While the Wildcats are sixth in the country in scoring offense, Saint Louis is fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring defense (63.3 ppg). The Billikens have won 66 straight games when holding their opponents to 60 or fewer points, but their defense will struggle against the high-powered Wildcats.

Predicted Outcome

Davidson 79, Saint Louis 62
