CLEMSON TIGERS

Clemson Tigers

Clemson Tigers VS. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Rutgers (3-3) at Clemson (4-2)

GAME NOTES: The Clemson Tigers, currently on a three-game win streak, will try to keep the good times going as they host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Monday night.

Rutgers sports a 3-3 overall record entering the contest, and has lost two of its last three games. The Scarlet Knights took part in the Barclays Center Classic late last week, defeating Vanderbilt in the first round but falling to Virginia, 45-26, in the team's latest outing.

Clemson dropped a two-point decision to Gardner-Webb at the start of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, but then proceeded to win back-to-back games against Nevada and LSU. The team recently took down High Point, 62-59, last Friday for its fourth win of the season.

These two programs have only met once on the court previously, with Clemson holding the only victory.

Talk about an absolutely abysmal offensive showing for the Scarlet Knights in their latest contest. Rutgers went up against defensive-minded Virginia in the team's second-round game of the Barclays Center Classic, and dropped the game after only managing 26 points throughout the duration of the contest. Rutgers shot 25 percent from the floor in the defeat, and was led in scoring by Kadeem Jack's eight points. No other player for the Knights recorded more than six points. Rutgers also shot 0-of-13 from 3-point range.

The team had struggled to score from time to time entering the Virginia game, but the 26-point egg the team laid dropped the Knights' scoring average all the way down to 55.7 ppg, while Rutgers also allows 60.8 ppg to opponents. Myles Mack leads the Scarlet Knights with 14.3 ppg, followed by Jack's 12.8 ppg average. Junior Etou tops the squad in rebounding, bringing down 8.2 boards per outing. Mack has dished out a team-best 27 assists.

It was a pretty poor offensive performance for Clemson as well the last time out, as the Tigers hit just 33.3 percent of their attempts from the floor in the first half against High Point. Still, Clemson managed to take a 26-16 halftime lead, which ended up as just a three-point advantage when all was said and done. Jaron Blossomgame notched a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Landry Nnoko chipped in with 10 points and 13 boards for a double-dip of his own. Donte Grantham and Patrick Rooks each contributed 11 points in the win.

Nnoko leads a group of four Clemson players in double digits, averaging 12.2 ppg. Damarcus Harrison adds 11.3 ppg, and Blossomgame chips in 11.2 ppg to go with his team-best 8.8 rpg. Grantham is netting 10.5 ppg for the Tigers, who as a unit are scoring 69.2 ppg while allowing foes to register 60.0 ppg. Nnoko already has 16 blocked shots for Clemson, but he's also turned the ball over 20 times.

Clemson gets a boost playing in front of the home crowd, and Rutgers was demoralized offensively against Virginia. The Scarlet Knights aren't a very good offensive team anyway, so Clemson should be able to outscore the visitors with relative ease.
