Clemson Tigers VS. Florida St. Seminoles

Recap: Clemson vs. Florida State

Greensboro, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Freshman Xavier Rathan-Mayes scored 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting, and Florida State withstood a furious Clemson rally for a 76-73 victory in the second round of the ACC Tournament.

The Seminoles (17-15) grabbed a 57-37 lead on a Rathan-Mayes jumper with 9:09 left in the game, but the Tigers stormed back to cut the deficit to two.

Florida State's poor execution inbounding the ball led to turnovers down the stretch, and Clemson began to get hot from 3-point range.

After a Damarcus Harrison trey closed the gap to 74-69 with 33 seconds left, Florida State's Phil Cofer slipped while running the baseline and dropped the ball, leading to an easy basket for Jaron Blossomgame.

Rathan-Mayes was then fouled and hit 1-of-2 free throws with 30.3 seconds left, but Rod Hall drew a foul and made both attempts from the line to pull Clemson within 75-73.

Cofer then made 1-of-2 foul shots, keeping it a one-possession game. Florida State, however, prevailed when Gabe DeVoe missed a deep three from the left wing.

Montay Brandon had 17 points for the ninth-seeded Seminoles, who will play third-ranked and regular-season ACC champion Virginia in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Leonard Hamilton picked up his 236th win at Florida State, tying J.K. Kennedy for the most coaching victories in school history.

Hall paced eighth-seeded Clemson (16-15) with a career-high 25 points. Blossomgame added 14 points with seven rebounds.
