CLEMSON TIGERS

Clemson Tigers

Clemson Tigers VS. Boston College Eagles

Boston College (9-10) at Clemson (12-8)

GAME NOTES: The Boston College Eagles pay a visit to Littlejohn Coliseum for a Saturday matinee against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Clemson.

Boston College brings a 9-10 overall record into this tilt and is just 1-6 in ACC play. The Eagles are coming off Wednesday night's 81-72 setback to 10th- ranked Louisville. That marked the Eagles' lone home game in a five-game stretch that continues with Saturday's contest.

Clemson has picked up victories in three of its last four outings. Most recently, the Tigers earned a 68-57 road win over NC State on Wednesday. Next up, they will travel to the Sunshine State to take on Florida State and Miami in the coming week.

Clemson holds an 11-7 lead in the all-time series with BC. This is the only scheduled meeting between these two teams in 2014-15.

The Eagles never led against No. 10 Louisville earlier this week, but they also never trailed by more than 10. Every time the Cardinals went on a scoring run and threatened to pull away, the Eagles would answer with a spurt of their own. That is, until Louisville put together a 9-4 run to take a 68-61 lead with 3:29 to play, as BC was never able to trim the deficit to below five points the rest of the way.

Aaron Brown (14.7 ppg) turned in a solid performance in defeat, scoring a game-high 28 points on the strength of 5-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc. His 28 points are the most scored by an Eagles player this season. Patrick Heckmann added 14 points, while Olivier Hanlan (16.5 ppg, 4.7 apg) finished with 11 points and a game-high nine assists. Defensively, the Eagles allowed Louisville to shoot 58 percent from the floor.

On the other side of the floor, Clemson is led by redshirt sophomore Jaron Blossomgame (13.0 ppg, 8.4 rpg) in the paint and freshman Donte Grantham (10.0 ppg) in the backcourt. The Tigers are not a particularly potent offensive squad, averaging just 63.0 points and shooting only a collective 29.8 percent from the perimeter. But they have played sound defense, limiting foes to 61.2 ppg and 38.9-percent shooting from the floor.

Clemson tied a season-high with nine blocked shots on Wednesday night and held NC State to 29-percent shooting, easily its lowest field-goal percentage of the season. The Tigers jumped out to a halftime lead of 20-plus points for the second time in the last four games (they led Syracuse by 21 on Jan. 17). They complemented their stingy defense with an efficient 6-of-12 effort from the perimeter for the game. Jordan Roper knocked down three of his five attempts from distance and led all scorers with 18 points in the win.

The Tigers have the clear edge here with homecourt advantage and their defensive pressure, whereas the Eagles sabotaged themselves with leaky defense in a winnable game against nationally-ranked Louisville.

Predicted Outcome

Clemson 61, Boston College 51
