Chattanooga Mocs VS. UAB Blazers

UAB (4-7) at Chattanooga (6-6)

GAME NOTES: The UAB Blazers face their first true road test of the season on Monday night when they travel to McKenzie Arena to take on the Chattanooga Mocs.

UAB squandered an 11-point lead against LSU last Thursday and fell, 79-70, on its home floor. The Blazers, who slipped to 4-7 on the season, were led by Robert Brown who tallied 20 points and five assists, while CJ Washington and William Lee contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively.

After trailing 39-33 at halftime thanks to a 35.5 percent shooting effort, LSU found its stroke after the break and connected on 56.7 percent from the field. The Tigers made half of their 14 3-point attempts, and outscored UAB at the free-throw line by a 16-3 margin.

Brown is one of two double-digit scorers on the season for the Blazers, accounting for 13.1 ppg as he shoots 40.0 percent from the field and a dismal 30.2 percent out on the perimeter. Washington (10.0 ppg) is making an even worse 29.7 percent from the arc, and as a group, the Blazers have made good on just 30.8 percent of their opportunities from the outside, limiting their scoring output to 66.8 ppg, compared to 70.0 ppg for the competition.

Chattanooga had its modest three-game win streak stopped on Friday in a 68-58 loss to Middle Tennessee. The Mocs were led by Greg Pryor, who netted 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field. Casey Jones chipped in 10 points for Chattanooga, which scored just 20 points in the first half.

The Mocs tried rallying in the second half, but Middle Tennessee sealed the win at the foul line. The Blue Raiders' reserves outscored Chattanooga's, 38-21.

Chattanooga had played exceptionally well on offense going into the game, netting 72.5 ppg on 45.1 percent shooting from the floor. Jones paces the team with 12.8 ppg, adding a club-best 6.0 rpg mark to his resume'. Ronrico White and Pryor each chip in 10.5 ppg to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for the Mocs, who are allowing opponents to score 66.9 ppg against them. White has registered a team-high 32 assists on the season, while Justin Tuoyo's 35 blocks leads the Southern Conference.

UAB holds a 10-2 series advantage against Chattanooga, although the Blazers have not played in Chattanooga since 1997. If the Mocs can find the offense they sorely lacked the last time out, they can get over the .500 mark again.

Predicted Outcome

Chattanooga 75, UAB 70
