Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Reserve Leland King racked up 17 points and pulled in eight rebounds as the Brown Bears knocked off the Prairie View A&M Panthers, 81-71, in the Las Vegas Invitational at Orleans Arena.

Steven Spieth also contributed to the Bears' (2-5) victory, scoring 16 points and grabbing seven boards. J.R. Hobbie and Rafael Maia were the other Brown scorers in double figures, tallying 12 points and 11 points, respectively.

Tre Hagood scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds for Prairie View (0-7. John Brisco added 16 points and Reggis Onwukamuche netted 12.

Brown held a slim 38-37 lead over the Panthers at halftime. The Panthers connected on 44.1 percent of their field goal attempts, and the Bears shot 46.4 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

The Bears exceptional field goal shooting helped them pull away in the second half. They hit on 15-of-22 field goal tries, including 4-of-5 3-point attempts. The Panthers only made 40 percent of their field goal attempts in the frame.

Brown's reserves outscored Prairie View's bench, 39-11. Brown also enjoyed a 41-27 edge on the boards.
