Recap: Bradley vs. Texas-Arlington

Peoria, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Drew Charles scored 14 points, leading four starters in double figures, as the Mavericks of Texas-Arlington defeated the Bradley Braves by a score of 86-75 in the 2014-15 season opener for both programs.

Kevin Hervey, Jamel Outler and Johnny Hill each tallied 13 points for the Mavericks (1-0), the latter also clearing a team-high nine rebounds and handing out five assists.

Omari Greer led all scorers with 33 points on 7-of-11 shooting behind the 3- point line for the Braves (0-1), while Warren Jones chipped in with 13 points off the bench in the setback.

Bradley managed to lead by two points about four minutes into the meeting, but the team ended up shooting only 34.5 percent from the field in the first half. UTA managed to not only convert 50 percent from the floor in the frame, but also an astounding 10-of-14 behind the 3-point line in order to assume a 48-29 advantage at the break.

In the second half the Mavericks dipped to 2-of-6 on the perimeter, but still had enough left in the tank to take the double-digit win on the road.

The visitors claimed the victory despite turning the ball over 19 times, seven of those miscues coming from Charles who failed to deliver a single assist.
