Ark.-Little Rock Trojans VS. Tulsa Golden Hurricane

Tulsa (4-3) at Arkansas-Little Rock (4-2)

GAME NOTES: The Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans saw a three-game win streak come to an end recently, but they'll try to get back in the win column as they host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Jack Stephens Center in a non-conference bout.

Tulsa was on a two-game slide before the team took down Creighton, 77-64, in its last outing on Wednesday. The Golden Hurricane enter this game with a 4-3 record on the season, and will return home after this clash for a four-game homestand.

UALR took down UMKC, Cal State Northridge and Central Arkansas consecutively, but the team dropped a close 73-68 decision to Missouri State in its most recent contest. The Trojans are now 4-2 this season entering this clash.

Tulsa and Arkansas-Little Rock have met a total of seven times in their series history, with Tulsa holding a 4-3 advantage. The Golden Hurricane won last year's matchup, 78-64, but UALR is 3-0 at home against Tulsa all-time.

Creighton was the favorite coming into its contest against Tulsa on Wednesday, but the Golden Hurricane held the Bluejays to just 38 percent shooting for the game, including 6-of-20 from 3-point range. Tulsa shot 48.1 percent from the floor, and took a 33-25 lead at halftime - one the team would not relinquish. James Woodard led the team in scoring with 23 points, adding in eight rebounds in 35 minutes of action. Shaquille Harrison and Marquel Curtis each contributed 17 points for the Golden Hurricane. The team didn't perform so well from the free-throw line, making just 18-of-33 from the charity stripe.

Woodard leads Tulsa in scoring, netting 14.9 ppg on 44 percent shooting from the floor. He's followed by D'Andre Wright, who checks in with a scoring average of 10.0 ppg. Both players are bringing down more than four rebounds per outing on average, but it's Rashad Smith that leads the team in that category at 6.4 boards per contest. As a unit, the Golden Hurricane net 62.9 ppg and allow just 59.4 ppg to opponents on 39.3 opponent shooting percentage.

UALR held a slight advantage in shooting percentage against Missouri State in the team's last contest, netting 47.9 percent of its tries compared to 47.2 percent for the Bears. The Trojans actually held a 32-27 lead at halftime, but faltered in the second half when Missouri State connected on 55.6 percent of its attempts from the floor. Mareik Isom netted 14 points to pace the Trojans in scoring, while James White chipped in with 13 points and Ben Dillard contributed 11 points. Isom made a perfect 4-of-4 from 3-point range, while the UALR bench scored 30 points in the loss.

White comes into the game against Tulsa as UALR's leading scorer this season, netting 14.7 ppg with a team-high 7.7 rpg average. He also brings in a 53.8 shooting percentage from the field and a team-best 11 blocked shots. Roger Woods, who scored nine points against Missouri State, is the only other Trojans player to average a double-digit scoring figure with 12.5 ppg, adding in 7.0 rpg. As a team, UALR averages 76.5 ppg on 44.7 percent shooting, but the team does give up 75.8 ppg to opponents.

The talent is there for Tulsa, but the team has only been able to score more than 65 points once in its last six games. Going on the road and getting a solid offensive effort may not be so hard against a Trojans team allowing over 75 ppg to challengers, but the home squad packs an offensive punch of its own.
