Recap: Alabama vs. Texas A&M
Tuscaloosa, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Ricky Tarrant led the way with 15 points as the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Texas A&M Aggies, 65-44, in an SEC showdown at Coleman Coliseum.
For the Crimson Tide (11-3, 1-0 SEC), Retin Obasohan added 12 points and Michael Kessens and Levi Randolph each finished with 10 points and nine boards.
Peyton Allen led the Aggies (9-4, 0-1) with 13 points. Alex Caruso dished out a team-best six assists in the loss.
The Crimson Tide shot just 36.4 percent from the field in the first half, including 3-of-15 from beyond the arc, but still led at the break, 27-24. The Aggies also struggled with their shooting, making only 38.5 percent of their field goal tries in the first half, including 3-of-12 from 3-point range.
Alabama shot a healthy 52 percent from the field in the second half, including 2-of-8 from 3-point distance. Texas A&M could not find the basket, shooting a lowly 23.1 percent from the field, including 3-of-10 from beyond the arc. The Crimson Tide opened the second half on a 9-2 run and never trailed again, as they coasted down the stretch to the victory and stayed a perfect 10-0 at home.
The Crimson Tide outscored the Aggies in the paint, 28-18. They also finished with an 18-6 scoring advantage at the free-throw line.
