One of the older teams in the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies came into existence in 1883. However, they couldn't repeat as world champions the following year because once again, the Yankees would win another World Series. However, the Phillies in these years worked to give some glamour and pride back to the championship starved city of Philadelphia.
