Later these players would pass on the Yankee legacy to Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Alex Rodriguez. The Yankees recently won their 27th World Series in 2009.

The New York Yankees are the most storied franchise in the city but they are by far not the only show in town. In terms of baseball teams, the other franchise in this town is the New York Mets. They are based out of the Borough of Queens and are a major rival of Yankees. The New York Knicks are the only NBA team in town and share their home, Madison Square Garden, with one of the city's hockey teams, the New York Rangers. The Jets are famous for beating the Colts in a major upset with star quarterback Joe Namath. The Giants are one of the most historic football teams in NFL and have won three Super Bowls.
