Louisville, KY (SportsNetwork.com) – Leading 3-year-old Will Take Charge had his final workout Friday morning at Churchill Downs for the $500,000 Clark Handicap on Friday, Nov. 29.<\/p>\n
Trained by D. Wayne Lukas, Will Take Charge went five furlongs over a track listed as ‘good’ in 1:01. The work was moved up to Friday because of concerns about a soggy weather forecast for Louisville over the weekend.<\/p>\n
“He’s really having a good week. It’s not one of those works that we’re looking for anything more than just to open his lungs a little bit,” Lukas said Thursday prior to the workout.<\/p>\n
Owned by Willis Horton, the colt is coming off a nose loss to Mucho Macho Man in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Nov. 2.<\/p>\n
Will Take Charge won the Pennsylvania Derby and Travers heading into the Breeders’ Cup and was second in the Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga.<\/p>\n
This year the 3-year-old colt has won four of 10 starts for better than $2.6 million and has banked $2,727,371 in his 14 race career.<\/p>\n
