The deal includes a club option for 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy heads to the Tribe after a seven-year stint with the Texas Rangers and owns a .275 average in 849 career games. The 32-year-old veteran has reached double digits in home runs in each of the last six seasons, though he is coming off a down year in which he hit a career-low .220 while compiling 13 homers and 45 RBI over 142 games.<\/p>\n<p>A former first-round pick of Boston, Murphy broke into the majors with the Red Sox in 2006 under current Indians manager Terry Francona.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy, a left-handed hitter, could be used in a platoon with Drew Stubbs in right field.
