The 32-year-old has reached double digits in home runs in each of the last six seasons, though he is coming off a down year in which he hit a career-low .220 while compiling 13 homers and 45 RBI over 142 games.

A former first-round pick of Boston, Murphy broke into the majors with the Red Sox in 2006 under current Indians manager Terry Francona.

Murphy, a left-handed hitter, will likely be used in a platoon with Drew Stubbs in right field with the Indians. Stubbs, Cleveland’s primary starter at that position last season, batted just .233 with 10 homers in 2013 and particulary struggled when facing right-handed pitching.

Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – The Cleveland Indians have agreed to terms with outfielder David Murphy on a two-year contract, multiple sources told MLB.com on Wednesday.
