Eugene, OR (SportsNetwork.com) – Oregon has suspended men’s basketball players Dominic Artis and Ben Carter for selling team-issued apparel and self-reported the violations to the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference.

Artis and Carter, both sophomores, didn’t make the trip with the No. 19 Ducks to South Korea for their scheduled season-opener Friday against Georgetown at Camp Humphreys.

The length of their suspensions hasn’t been determined. Oregon said Tuesday the players would donate the value of the apparel they sold to charity.

“Ben and Dominic are two good young men who made a poor decision that was against NCAA rules,” Oregon coach Dana Altman said in a statement. “I feel that both regret their decisions and the impact that it has on their teammates and our university.”

Artis, a 6-foot-1 guard, averaged 8.5 points and 3.2 assists in 28 games for the Ducks last season. Carter, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 2.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 37 games.
