{"id":7431,"date":"2013-11-04T18:40:00","date_gmt":"2013-11-04T18:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staging.stub.com\/hq\/news\/santana-gets-offer-from-royals\/"},"modified":"2013-11-05T00:05:05","modified_gmt":"2013-11-05T00:05:05","slug":"santana-gets-offer-from-royals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.stub.com\/hq\/news\/santana-gets-offer-from-royals\/","title":{"rendered":"Santana gets offer from Royals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) &#8211; The Kansas City Royals tendered a $14.1 qualifying offer to free-agent pitcher Ervin Santana on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The move guarantees the Royals a compensation pick in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft if he does not accept the offer by the Nov. 11 deadline and signs with another team.<\/p>\n<p>Santana posted a 9-10 record and a 3.24 ERA in 32 starts in 2013 as the No. 2 starter in the Royals&#8217; rotation behind James Shields.<\/p>\n<p>Over nine seasons with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Kansas City, Santana has compiled a 105-90 record with a 4.19 ERA. He has started 25 or more games in seven of those nine seasons.<\/p>\n<p>While with the Angels in July of 2011, Santana hurled the ninth no-hitter in franchise history in defeating the Cleveland Indians, 3-1.
