Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Houston Texans sent out a press release Monday updating the condition of head coach Gary Kubiak.<\/p>\n
Kubiak collapsed while running off the field and into the locker room during halftime of the Texans’ Sunday night game against the Indianapolis Colts.<\/p>\n
Kubiak fell to his knees around the 24-yard line near the Texans’ sideline. He attempted to sit up, but was unable to stay upright. He was carted off the field on a stretcher and was taken to a local hospital.<\/p>\n
On Monday, the Texans said Kubiak went through a battery of tests at the hospital, that he was admitted overnight and that he will remain there for at least the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n
The team also said that Kubiak experienced dizziness and a light-headed feeling before going to his knees.<\/p>\n
“Our primary concern is of course with Gary’s health and well-being,” Texans general manager Rick Smith said. “There have been so many people throughout the city and across the country that have reached out to express their love and support and we are thankful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers. Gary is alert, coherent and in good spirits. He is continuing to be evaluated and monitored.”<\/p>\n
Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips took over as interim coach after Kubiak left.<\/p>\n
The reeling two-time defending AFC South champion Texans led 21-3 at halftime before unraveling in the second half, falling 27-24 to suffer their sixth straight loss.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
