Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker has been cleared to play in Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers and will make his first start in three weeks, The Tennessean reported Saturday.<\/p>\n
Locker has been sidelined with a sprained right knee and hip he sustained in a win over the New York Jets on Sept. 29. He participated in all three practices during the week, however, and the Titans’ coaches were encouraged with his progress.<\/p>\n
The 2011 first-round pick was initially given a timetable of 4-to-6 weeks to return, and expectations were that the Titans were planning to hold Locker out through its upcoming Week 8 bye.<\/p>\n
Tennessee had officially declared Locker questionable on its final injury report.<\/p>\n
If healthy, Locker could provide a needed boost to a Tennessee offense that has struggled with backup Ryan Fitzpatrick under center the past two weeks. The Titans have lost both of Fitzpatrick’s two starts, with the veteran tossing four interceptions over that span.<\/p>\n
Tennessee won three of its first four outings of the season with Locker at the controls. The third-year pro threw for 721 yards and six touchdowns without an interception prior to his injury.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
