Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – The Arizona Diamondbacks placed pitcher Matt Reynolds on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left elbow Monday as the team prepares to open a three-game set in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.<\/p>\n
Reynolds has given up three runs over his last two appearances, matching the number he had allowed over his previous 28 outings.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old left-hander owns an 0-2 record with a 1.98 earned run average and a pair of saves over 30 games out of the bullpen this season.<\/p>\n
Arizona also optioned pitcher Tyler Skaggs to Triple-A Reno and recalled pitchers Joe Paterson and Charles Brewer from Reno prior to Monday’s series opener.<\/p>\n
Skaggs, 21, had his second straight rough outing Sunday, giving up five runs on eight hits and three walks over five frames in a 6-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants.<\/p>\n
Over three starts, Skaggs has pitched to a 1-1 record with a 5.40 ERA.<\/p>\n
Paterson appeared in six games with the Diamondbacks last season and was tagged for 11 runs on 15 hits in just 2 2\/3 innings of work.<\/p>\n
